Koori Maths Day

Students participated in Koori Maths Day, where they met Elder Uncle Max who showed them the original meeting place of the ancestors and told stories of the past while they walked to the middens at Handkerchief Beach. He also taught the boys spear making while the girls met with Cathy Thomas who taught them how to weave local plants and shells, and they also learned about the Womb Cave at Mystery Bay. Students were also shown the Bush Tucker garden at the school, bush-soap making, fire making and boomerang throwing.

We would like to give special thanks to the South East Local Land Services, Mr McEvoy, Cherrie Sandford, Damien Rotumah, staff and students.
